Job Description:

About this opportunity...

The Senior Manager, Communications & Engagement shapes and executes enterprise-wide internal communications and engagement strategies that connect Associates to business priorities, culture, and key moments. The role leads clear, compelling communications across newsletters, intranet content, executive and leadership communications, Associate campaigns, live events, multimedia storytelling, and recognition and engagement initiatives.

Working with the Senior Director and senior partners across Human Resources, IT, Corporate Properties, Supply Chain, Stores, and other functions, the Senior Manager builds trusted relationships and serves as a strategic advisor who translates complex information into clear, actionable communications. The role sets communications strategies, editorial standards, channel plans, and operating processes; advises leaders on messages, timing, and audience needs; and leads high-visibility work that drives alignment from strategy through execution.

Success requires exceptional writing and editorial judgment, business acumen, project leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple priorities through ambiguity. The Senior Manager develops communications talent, directs internal and external creative partners, and uses innovation, Associate feedback, and channel insights to improve effectiveness and impact.

What you will do and what you will learn...

Stay current on internal communications practices, engagement trends, and tools that improve quality, reach, or efficiency.

•    Build repeatable planning frameworks and processes to improve prioritization, decision-making, and efficiency.
•    Anticipate communications needs, risks, and opportunities, recommending relevant, effective approaches.
•    Coordinate communications in urgent or rapidly changing situations, aligning dependencies and escalating decisions as needed.

•    Support the Senior Director with organizational change and executive and leadership communications, including speeches, talking points, presentations, videos, announcements, and materials for high-visibility meetings and events.
•    Partner with senior leaders to clarify objectives, shape messages, strengthen storytelling, and align communications with audience needs, Company voice, and priorities.
•    Lead content development for enterprise and divisional meetings, coordinating business partners, event teams, and creative resources to deliver cohesive experiences.

Business Partnership & Engagement
•    Lead communications for business priorities and initiatives that support Company culture and the Associate experience.
•    Develop integrated campaigns that build awareness, encourage action, and strengthen connection to Ross and dd’s brands and culture.
•    Advise partners on priorities, tradeoffs, sequencing, and channels so Associates receive the right information at the right time.
•    Direct written, visual, video, and live-event content, ensuring a consistent voice, strong editorial standards, and the intended audience experience.

Events
•    Lead strategy, planning, and execution for on- and off-campus events serving all Associates, smaller Associate and leader groups, and SVP+ leaders.
•    Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to define objectives, audiences, formats, agendas, roles, budgets, and success measures.
•    Oversee the end-to-end event experience, including content, communications, programming, production, logistics, vendors, and on-site execution.
•    Anticipate risks, manage changes, and coordinate decisions to deliver high-quality events on time and within budget.
•    Use attendee feedback and event results to assess impact and improve future experiences.
•    Team Leadership & Standards
•    Lead, coach, and develop Communications & Engagement team members by setting priorities, providing actionable feedback, and building capabilities.
•    Direct designers, video partners, agencies, and vendors to deliver high-quality work on time and within scope.
•    Ensure a consistent voice and adherence to AP Style and Ross/dd’s brand standards.
•    Use Company-approved AI tools responsibly to improve planning, drafting, editing, and workflows while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, judgment, and brand standards.
