About this opportunity...

The Fashion Assistant II supports the Director of the NY Fashion Office in delivering trend direction and creative insights that inspire and inform the business. This role is responsible for researching fashion, consumer, and cultural shifts, identifying emerging opportunities, and connecting insights across trend, market, competitive, and sales data. The ideal candidate combines strong creative instincts with a natural ability to connect dots across fashion, consumer behavior, culture, market intelligence, and business performance, transforming observations into compelling stories and actionable insights.

What you will do and what you will learn...

  • Assist Director in pulling together seasonal trend and color presentations for all relevant meetings and deliverables (trend reports and seasonal forecasts).  
  • Proactively researches emerging consumer, cultural, and category trends and synthesizes findings into actionable recommendations for merchants and Fashion Office leadership.
  • Partner cross-functionally with merchants and Fashion Office team members to identify opportunities, share insights, and support key business initiatives.
  • Create trend reports based on competitive/trend shopping findings to be distributed to the Fashion Office and merchants. 
  • Shop Ross Stores monthly, create a trend recap including observations and recommendations about the assortment to share with Director/VP and merchant team.
  • Prepare talking points and trend ideas to share at Concept, Trends to Track, Style-outs, Best Seller Meetings. 
  • Serve as Fashion Office representative when Director is traveling in all market/ trend/ vendor meetings as needed.
  • Attend market appointments with Ross merchant team where applicable.
  • Work with Trend Services and attend all relevant trend meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage samples for creative requests.

•    Strong storytelling skills, able to communicate trend and business insights.
•    Strong visual communication skills with an eye for design, layout, color, and trend storytelling.
•    Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
•    Demonstrates a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback, incorporating recommendations, and continuously developing skills and expertise.
•    Bachelor's Degree required.

The base pay range for this role $76,000.00 to $82,000.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
